What Is Amnesty International USA Student Groups?

Amnesty International USA supports more than 600 youth and student groups that organize around human-rights research, education, advocacy, and current campaigns. A student can join an existing chapter, register a new U.S. school or campus group, or—if no local group is available—participate through the national Student Action Network. Chapters may operate virtually or in person and are youth-led but faculty-supported. Amnesty provides a starter guide, new-leader orientation, campaign and training resources, materials requests, event submission, mentorship, and opportunities to develop facilitation, public-speaking, organizing, campaigning, advocacy, and social-media skills. Although high-school and college groups make up most of the network, Amnesty defines youth as under 25 and also supports some elementary and middle-school groups. New U.S. group registration is live and has no published deadline; existing chapters must renew annually, but the public page still names the completed 2025-26 school year and has not posted a 2026-27 renewal date. The pages do not state a registration fee or fixed weekly commitment, so cost and hours remain unknown.
