What Is UNICEF USA Youth Leadership and Advocacy?
UNICEF USA youth advocacy is a family of distinct opportunities, not one grades 9–12 volunteer application. The National Youth Council brings ages 14–24 into national campaigns, publications, policy advocacy, child-centered governance, and organizational decision-making; Youth Representatives serve in regional and selected-city roles; and UNICEF Clubs let school and organization teams educate, fundraise, organize, and advocate for children's rights. The selective 2026–27 National Youth Council term runs August 3, 2026 through May 31, 2027 for 3–5 hours per week, primarily online with required virtual trainings and a fall in-person retreat. Members receive USD 1,000, and UNICEF USA covers travel and lodging for required in-person activities plus a chaperone when applicable. That application was open February 16–22 and is closed. In contrast, new and returning UNICEF Clubs can currently register for 2026–27 with four club leaders and one advisor; no closing date is stated.
