What Is Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestras?
CSYO is a four-tier, in-person auditioned orchestra program for Central Ohio students in grades 3-12. Grade bands are Junior Strings 3-7, Chamber Strings 6-9, Repertory Orchestra 7-10, and Youth Orchestra 9-12. Students rehearse weekly, perform publicly, receive Columbus Symphony coaching and one-on-one mentoring, and must remain in their school instrumental-music program and take private lessons on their CSYO instrument.
Auditions are currently reopened only for specified 2026-27 vacancies: selected strings in Junior/Chamber/Youth, selected winds and brass in Repertory/Youth, and percussion in Repertory/Youth. This is not a general open audition for every instrument. The video audition fee is USD 40. Annual tuition plus registration totals USD 465 for Junior, USD 495 for Chamber, USD 525 for Repertory, and USD 555 for Youth; need-based aid and payment plans are available.
