What Is Luna Composition Lab Fellowship?
The Luna Composition Lab Fellowship selects six U.S.-resident composers ages 13-18 who identify as female, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming. From October 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, fellows receive twice-monthly one-on-one mentorship, Zoom sharing sessions and masterclasses, two virtual reading sessions with a professional ensemble, and a week-long New York City festival where their new approximately seven-minute work is rehearsed and premiered. Tuition is free.
The application requires general and musical-background responses plus at least one completed work, preferably a score and recording; electronic recordings, performance videos, graphic notation, and improvisatory work are accepted. The deadline is September 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The official apply page says the application is available, but the linked portal still displays 'not yet open' even though its stated August 15 opening has passed. Portal status is therefore unknown until the form is tested or corrected. Adventures in Sound is a separate paid course option and is not part of this Fellowship record.
