What Is Med-Start Health Careers Program?
Med-Start is a demanding six-week residential summer program in Tucson for Arizona high-school students after junior year who are exploring health professions. Participants live in a University of Arizona residence hall, take one-credit courses in English, introductory college chemistry lab, and introductory college math, and complete lectures, laboratory demonstrations, health-care and research tours, Arizona campus visits, college-readiness workshops, community service, assignments, and research presentations.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, have lived in Arizona for at least a year, hold at least a 3.0 GPA, and complete an interview. The program costs approximately USD 6,000, but scholarships and tuition waivers can reduce the price and may cover it fully.
