What Is Michigan Math and Science Scholars (MMSS)?
MMSS is a University of Michigan pre-college program for students who have completed at least one year of high school but have not graduated: rising sophomores, juniors and seniors from around the world. It offers three separate two-week, in-person summer sessions in Ann Arbor. Students take one small course per session, generally with about 15 students, taught by University of Michigan faculty across fields including mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, psychology, and earth/environmental science.
The 2026 program is complete and its application is closed. All seats were filled by April 6. Per two-week session, tuition was $1,400; residential students paid an additional $1,100 for lodging, linens, supervision and meals. The one-time application fee was $100. Limited need-based aid could cover program fees but not travel.
