What Is Mote High School Blue Crew?
Mote's High School Blue Crew is a year-round volunteer program for local high-school students at least age 15 who are not seniors or graduates when they apply. New members enter only through the summer onboarding cycle and need reliable transportation to Mote Science Education Aquarium near UTC Mall in Sarasota.
Blue Crew members begin as Aquarium Guides: they interpret exhibits, connect guests with Mote research, and facilitate animal encounters. They earn tracked service-hour credit, receive continuing training, and may later access peer leadership, career-shadowing, experiential-learning, education, and optional research-campus opportunities. Participants in good standing can be invited back for the next season without reapplying.
