# High School Blue Crew Mote's High School Blue Crew gives local high school students a way into marine research, animal care, and conservation education at an independent marine laboratory. Blue Crew members serve as Aquarium Guides at Mote Science Education Aquarium (Mote SEA), interpreting exhibits for visitors, connecting them to Mote's research, and facilitating animal encounters. ## What You'll Do - Staff Aquarium Guide shifts at Mote SEA, interpreting exhibits and facilitating animal encounters - Learn about marine research, animal care, and conservation education from Mote scientists and educators - Advance through the program into peer leadership positions, career shadowing, and experiential learning - Help deliver Mote's education programming for younger visitors - Take on optional offsite opportunities at Mote's City Island research campus and Mote Aquaculture Research Park ## Who Should Apply Currently enrolled high school students who are not seniors and have not graduated at the time of application, who have reliable transportation to Mote SEA, and who can attend the mandatory late-May onsite orientation. Applications require a resume and cover letter; strong applicants are invited to onsite interviews held after school and on weekends in April and early May. This is a competitive program with a limited number of spaces. ## Outcomes Members earn service-hour credit tracked through Mote's volunteer management system, receive ongoing training and support, and build a multi-year record of marine science and public-interpretation experience. Participants in good standing are invited back each season without reapplying.
