What Is National Aquarium Youth Exhibit Guide Program?
The Youth Exhibit Guide Program is a local summer volunteer opportunity at the National Aquarium's main Baltimore campus for students who have completed ninth grade. Guides receive intensive instruction in aquarium exhibits, Chesapeake Bay ecology, conservation, interpretation and customer service, then help guests in the galleries. Animal contact is generally excluded except at the Living Seashore exhibit.
The 2026 cohort required a May orientation, five full training days June 22-26, and two four-hour shifts per week during June 29-August 9. Participants had to complete at least 10 shifts across five weeks, could not stack shifts and had to attend the first shift week. Qualified applicants completed required in-person interviews.
