What Is Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society?
Mu Alpha Theta is a mathematics honor society organized through accredited high-school and two-year-college chapters. High-school members are in grades 9-12, have completed two years of college-preparatory mathematics and enrolled in or completed a third, and hold at least a 3.0 mathematics GPA. Chapters may set stricter standards.
Teachers and sponsors register chapters and members; students cannot apply directly to the National Office. Beginning August 1, 2026, national one-time member registration is $12, or $6 at Title I schools. Local dues and activity costs may be additional. The $25 reactivation fee is a chapter charge, not every student’s membership price. Associates have different requirements and rights. Chapter activities, selection dates and time commitments vary, without a universal May 1 deadline.
