What Is Northeastern Young Scholars Program (YSP)?
Northeastern’s Young Scholars Program offers Boston lab research, engineering and career seminars, field trips and a final presentation. The 2027 calendar is June 22–July 31, with applications opening December 14, 2026 and closing March 1, 2027 at 5 p.m. EST. Recommendations are due March 8. Older March 2 and March 9 application instructions on the page concern 2026.
Applicants must be current juniors entering grade 12 afterward, live and attend school in Massachusetts throughout the year, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and commute to campus. The FAQ explains an online-school exception and says a 3.5 unweighted GPA is expected rather than an absolute minimum. The program is free; lunch, housing and parking are not provided, and historical stipends and transit passes are not guaranteed. Monday–Thursday hours are generally 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with separate Friday lab or home-work arrangements. Confirm the operative application and current lab details.
