What Is Paper Mill Playhouse Summer Musical Theater?
Paper Mill Playhouse's Summer Musical Theater Conservatory is an audition-only, five-week, full-day musical-theater training program for performers ages 10-18, including the summer after high-school graduation. Students train in acting, group/private voice, dance, audition technique, ensemble work, special skills and musical-theater history with professional coaches, directors, choreographers and Paper Mill staff. Every instructional day also includes rehearsal for the culminating New Voices Concert.
Admission is performance-based. A panel of three to six adjudicators scores vocal technique, acting/storytelling/personality and dance, then Paper Mill places accepted students by age, readiness, experience and maturity into Junior (10-12), Junior Plus (12-14) or Senior (15-18) company. Placement is not negotiable.
