# MPulse Musical Theatre Workshop The Musical Theatre Workshop is the flagship theater offering of MPulse, the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance's summer performing arts institutes in Ann Arbor. The workshop enrolls approximately 40 students and gives them the opportunity to work with faculty members of U-M's renowned Department of Musical Theatre - one of the most selective BFA programs in the country - along with special industry guests. ## What You'll Do - Train intensively in voice, acting, and dance with University of Michigan musical theatre faculty - Work with special industry guests drawn from the profession - Prepare and polish college audition material ahead of BFA applications - Live in Bursley Hall on U-M's North Campus with fellow participants, with tuition covering room and meals - Perform in a finale recital for families and faculty ## Who Should Apply The workshop is designed for rising seniors who are considering BFA degree programs in college; consideration is also given to rising juniors of exceptional ability and experience. Applications for 2026 carried a $75 application fee and a priority deadline of February 15, 2026, with admission by recorded audition; the 2027 application typically opens in late fall. ## Outcomes Participants get a realistic preview of conservatory-level BFA training and direct coaching from the faculty of a top musical theatre department before audition season. For students planning BFA auditions, the workshop functions as both intensive training and an audition-prep accelerator inside the department many of them are targeting.
