What Is Science Research Mentoring Program (SRMP)?
AMNH's SRMP is a paid, in-person scientific research and mentorship program running from August through June. Scholars begin with a four-week August Summer Institute, then work in teams of two or three with an AMNH-affiliated scientist for at least four hours across two after-school meetings each week, plus one or two Friday workshops monthly. Each scholar completes one project and presents a scientific poster and oral presentation at the June colloquium.
Applicants must live and attend school in New York City, currently be in grade 10 or 11, and have passed their classes for at least three semesters. They must also have taken/be taking one of six named AMNH programs, or attend a currently listed partner school/program. No U.S. citizenship or working papers are required, and prior research is not expected.
