What Is UCSC Scholar Immersion Program (SIP)?
UCSC’s Scholar Immersion Program, renamed in August 2026, offers research across science, engineering, social sciences, humanities and arts. Tentative 2027 dates are June 14-August 7, with online research June 14-17 and campus research June 21-August 6. Participants must be 14-17 throughout; some projects require at least 16 and expected graduates are generally ineligible.
Applications open January 15. The February 26 noon cutoff prints PST with a conflicting UTC-7 offset; confirm the clock. References are due March 5. The 2027 application fee is $68 nonrefundable with waivers by request; total tuition is pending December 2026 and limited 25%-100% need aid follows admission. Apply directly with transcripts, essays and one academic reference; unauthorized third-party charges are prohibited.
