What Is SASMO - Singapore and Asian Schools Math?
The Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) is a worldwide school mathematics contest created in 2006 and operated by SIMCC. The official site reports more than 700,000 participants across 50+ countries. It is open from Kindergarten 2 through grade 12, with differentiated papers covering school mathematics and higher-order, non-routine problem solving.
Grade 1-12 contestants receive 90 minutes for 25 questions in two sections; K2 contestants receive 60 minutes for 15 questions. Delivery may be online or paper. Awards include perfect-score, gold, silver, and bronze medals/certificates plus e-certificates for honorable mention and participation. Perfect scorers receive a personalized medallion and an SGD100 voucher, subject to a collective SGD5,000 cap. Country award ratios are independent only for countries with at least 500 contestants; smaller cohorts may be combined.
