What Is Stone Laboratory Summer Courses?
Stone Laboratory is Ohio State's island field station on Lake Erie. The official application page routes current Ohio State undergraduates, graduate-credit students, non-Ohio State undergraduates, high-school students seeking undergraduate credit, and non-credit workshop applicants through different processes. High-school applicants should use only the undergraduate-credit-for-high-school-student path and confirm that the specific course accepts them.
Course length, prerequisites, credit hours, tuition, laboratory and course fees, room, meals, books, supplies, transportation, and arrival instructions all vary. Most classes meet on South Bass Island and require ferry travel; some include pre-arrival assignments. Books and supplies must be purchased before arrival because they are not sold at Stone Lab. Successfully completed credit courses and grades become part of an official Ohio State transcript.
