What Is New Voices Student Leaders Institute?
SPLC's New Voices Student Leaders Institute is a specific annual cohort program, not a general hybrid volunteer opportunity called Free Press Advocacy. The free all-online institute trains high-school students in leadership, organizing, civics, lobbying, student-press law, community-needs analysis, and campaign strategy with SPLC staff, New Voices leaders, and guests. Participants then commit to serve as student leaders in the nonpartisan New Voices movement during the following advocacy year.
The July 14-23, 2026 institute is complete and its application is closed. SPLC has not published 2027 dates, a deadline, application materials, selection rules, meeting hours, or the exact post-institute commitment. Remove the projected May 20, 2027 deadline.
