# Summer Writers Workshop Susquehanna University's Summer Writers Workshop gives talented high school writers a week of intensive, small-group work with the nationally recognized authors who teach in Susquehanna's well-known undergraduate creative writing program. The 2026 workshop opened with arrival and orientation on July 19 on the university's campus in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. ## What You'll Do - Work daily in small group workshops in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction - Meet one-on-one with faculty writers in individual conferences - Attend readings and appearances by guest writers throughout the week - Give a public reading with your fellow writers on the closing Saturday, and see your fiction or poetry published in a workshop anthology mailed to your home ## Who Should Apply Experienced writers entering grades 10-12 who want serious, craft-focused feedback rather than a survey course. Registration includes submitting a writing portfolio of 3-5 pages of creative work in any genre - fiction, poetry, memoir, journalism, or plays. The comprehensive fee for 2026 was $1,075, covering instruction, room, meals, and all program materials. ## Outcomes Students leave with workshopped and revised new writing, an anthology publication credit, and direct mentorship from the faculty of one of the country's best-known undergraduate creative writing departments - useful preparation for portfolios, competitions like Scholastic, and eventual college applications in writing.
