What Is Urban Barcode Research Program (UBRP)?
UBRP pairs New York City high-school students age 13 or older with scientist mentors for DNA-barcoding research. Students must both live in and attend school in New York City.
The 2026–27 student application closed May 26, 2026. That cohort’s interviews and compulsory two-week Brooklyn lab training preceded academic-year research. The October 2026 through January 2027 proposal reviews are for research teams, rather than new-student admission deadlines; the spring symposium date remains to be determined.
