What Is RECF Achieve Robotics Competition?
RECF administered the completed 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship in St. Louis from April 21-30, 2026, then launched its independent RECF Robotics competitions for 2026-27. RECF explicitly says its current events are not sanctioned by VEX Robotics and do not qualify teams for the separate 2026-27 VEX Robotics World Championship. The actionable RECF successor for middle- and high-school teams is RECF Achieve Robotics Competition.
The Excellence Award is not a standalone application or one trophy available to every high-school applicant. It is a team award given at judged RECF events for combined engineering-design, interview, student-centered conduct, and on-field excellence. Current criteria include a strong, fully developed engineering notebook; a strong team interview; independent inquiry; consideration for other judged awards; positive sportsmanship and professionalism; and qualifying, solo-skills, and autonomous-coding performance thresholds. An event's current qualification chart determines whether its award advances a team. Winning Excellence at an event does not automatically guarantee a World Championship invitation.
