# Virginia House of Delegates Page Program Virginia runs one of the few legislative page programs in the country open to middle schoolers. Selected 13- and 14-year-olds relocate to Richmond for the entire General Assembly session, working weekdays in the Capitol while keeping up with their schoolwork under supervision. ## What You'll Do - Work 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday delivering documents and running office errands - Rotate through sections of the House Clerk's Office and staff committee meetings and floor sessions - Attend a mandatory evening study hall Monday through Thursday, 7:00pm to 9:00pm - Meet officials from all three branches of Virginia state government - Argue in the Page Debate, held in the House Chamber itself ## Who Should Apply Virginia residents who will be 13 or 14 years old on the first day of session (the second Wednesday in January) and who live with a parent or legal guardian. An A or B average at the time of appointment is expected. House pages serve roughly seven weeks in odd-numbered years and nine weeks in even-numbered years; the Senate runs a parallel program with its own application. ## Outcomes Pages finish with a full session inside a working state legislature, a completed floor debate, and relationships with delegates, clerks, and judges - an unusually deep civics credential to carry into high school and beyond.
