What Is Wolverine Pathways?
Wolverine Pathways is a free University of Michigan college- and career-preparation program serving students through grade 12. The standard Southeast Michigan entry points are current grade 6, beginning the program in grade 7, and current grade 9, beginning in grade 10. Applicants must live within Detroit, Southfield Public, or Ypsilanti Community school district boundaries; the school attended does not control eligibility. Grand Rapids participation uses designated partner schools and a separate process not currently posted.
For the completed Southeast Michigan application, sixth graders needed a 3.0 overall and 2.8 core academic GPA, while ninth graders needed a 3.2 overall and 3.0 academic GPA. Recommendations were required, and admitted students had to document their home address. Scholars continue only with strong academic performance and consistent attendance. They attend up to seven Saturdays per semester plus two to four summer weeks and receive courses, SAT preparation, tutoring, admissions writing, mentoring, career exploration, campus experiences, and access to selected camps, travel, research, and internships. Not every optional experience or paid internship is guaranteed.
