# Student Leadership Academy The National WWII Museum's Student Leadership Academy is a week-long residential program that uses the history of the Second World War as a case study in decision-making under pressure. Participants work directly with the Museum's exhibits, artifacts, and oral history collection, analyzing the strategic choices and ethical dilemmas faced by wartime leaders, and meet veterans and scholars in live interview sessions. Every accepted student attends on full scholarship. ## What You'll Do - Handle artifacts and work hands-on with Museum exhibits and primary sources - Analyze the strategic decisions and ethical dilemmas of WWII leaders as leadership case studies - Take part in live interviews with veterans and visiting scholars - Explore New Orleans history through guided excursions around the city - Optionally earn three college credit hours through an online humanities course taught by Nicholls State University faculty ## Who Should Apply The program is open to current high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors from anywhere in the United States. Applications are competitive; the 2026 cycle closed February 1, 2026 for a June session, so plan on a winter application. ## Outcomes Because "all accepted participants will receive full scholarship coverage of this program cost," students get a residential humanities program at a national museum at no tuition cost, plus optional transferable college credit and sustained contact with historians and Museum staff.
