What Is Yale Summer Program in Astrophysics?
YSPA is an intensive six-week research and enrichment program for 32 rising high-school seniors with strong science and mathematics preparation and a serious interest in astrophysics. The program begins with two online weeks and continues with four residential weeks at Yale. Students study astrophysical concepts, learn computational and observational techniques, analyze data, use telescopes, write a research paper, and present their work at a mini-conference. It does not grant college credit.
For 2026, applicants had to be current juniors/rising seniors and at least 15.5 years old by July 5. The application required a transcript and two teacher recommendations; standardized tests were not accepted. International students could apply under the same selection and financial-aid process, provided they met English and U.S. entry requirements. Day attendance was not permitted.
