What Is NYU GSTEM Summer Research Program?
GSTEM is a six-week, in-person research program for current high-school juniors who support its mission of broadening participation in STEM. After an orientation week, each of 40 students works full days Monday through Thursday with a professor or scientist at NYU or another New York City institution, then returns to NYU on Fridays for community activities and field trips. Students receive scientific-writing, presentation, and course-assistant support, complete a journal-style paper and oral symposium presentation, and earn a letter grade on an official NYU transcript.
The official site still describes Summer 2026, which ran June 29-August 7 and is closed. Its verified costs were $5,750 plus optional $3,966 housing with meal plan, and a $50 application fee with waivers. Need-based aid applied to the program fee, and the Winston Data Scholarship could cover that fee in full. Those are historical 2026 benchmarks: Summer 2027 dates, fees, housing price, scholarship terms, and application deadline are not yet published.
