What Is Teen Techies (Today's Teens?
Teen Techies, historically called Today's Teens, Tomorrow's Techies or T4, is a Brooklyn Public Library volunteer program for ages 14-18. After a two-week technology institute, participants serve at assigned BPL branches, helping patrons use library computers, Windows software and online resources, supporting adult librarians' technology instruction and troubleshooting with library technology staff. The standard commitment is at least three hours per week for at least six months; the print guardian form describes 120 hours over the school year.
Participants also attend two volunteer forums and submit a short reflection, and can receive community-service credit. A June 2026 BPL notice publishes a $200 stipend after successful completion; this is not an hourly paid job. The official sources conflict on whether the two-week institute is held in summer or fall, so only its duration is treated as confirmed. Applications are currently closed, and no next deadline is published.
