Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF)

Organization: Youth Science Canada

Program Overview

Canada’s national youth science fair where top student projects compete after qualifying at regional fairs across the country.

The Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF) is Canada’s national science fair, organized annually by Youth Science Canada. It brings together hundreds of top young scientists from across the country who have qualified through their local or regional science fairs. Students present original projects in areas such as life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, computer science, environmental science, and more. The fair is open to Canadian students in grades 7–12 (Secondary I–V in Quebec), with participants selected by affiliated regional science fairs rather than by direct individual application. Finalists attend a week-long event that includes project judging, public viewing, STEM workshops, social activities, and an awards ceremony, with medals, scholarships, and special prizes available. Travel and registration costs for finalists are typically covered or heavily subsidized by regional fairs or sponsors, making the opportunity broadly accessible.
