What Is WPI Frontiers?
Frontiers is Worcester Polytechnic Institute's active two-week, in-person, non-credit residential summer program for students entering grades 10, 11, or 12. Students select a hands-on major and minor, live on WPI's Worcester campus, and take part in academic blocks, college and career preparation, presentations, field trips, and supervised residential activities. It is not the unrelated Byram Hills Authentic Science Research course and should not be described as a guaranteed laboratory research placement.
The 2027 sessions are July 5-16 and July 18-30. Applications are scheduled to open in early December and are reviewed on a rolling basis; course choices can fill before a final deadline. WPI has not yet posted the final 2027 application cutoff or finalized 2027 course list. A complete application includes activities and interests, two short responses, and a transcript. International applicants also submit an accepted English-proficiency score. Recommendations and SAT or ACT scores are not required.
