# ENGin Volunteer Program ENGin is a global nonprofit that helps Ukrainians of all ages improve their lives through authentic English-language conversation with volunteers worldwide. Launched in March 2020, the program has connected over 70,000 Ukrainians and fluent English speakers for weekly video sessions that mix language practice, cultural exchange, mentorship, and friendship. US high school students are a core part of its volunteer base: the minimum volunteer age is 13. ## What You'll Do - Get matched with a Ukrainian conversation partner (one-on-one or a small 2-3 person group) - Meet for one hour a week by video chat, scheduled at times that work for you both - Practice English conversation, share your cultures, and offer 'an empathetic, authentic space for connection' - Complete ENGin's onboarding and follow its session guidance - no teaching experience required, since sessions are conversation practice rather than grammar lessons ## Who Should Apply Fluent English speakers age 13 and up with reliable internet who can commit one hour a week for at least 10-12 weeks. It fits students who want sustained, personal international service - especially those interested in languages, global affairs, or supporting Ukrainians - with complete scheduling flexibility. ## Outcomes Volunteers build cross-cultural communication and mentoring skills, log consistent verified service, and make a direct difference for one person: ENGin's 2025 impact reporting found 99% of participants reported overcoming language barriers and improving their English.
