What Is The Experiment Abroad?
The Experiment Abroad is World Learning's portfolio of supervised summer-abroad programs for high-school students, not one fixed $7,000 itinerary. Destinations and themes vary across cultural discovery, language, sustainability, peace and human rights, art, food, outdoor activity, community engagement, internships, and selected SIT college-credit experiences. Programs typically combine a small student cohort, experienced group leaders, lodging and meals, in-country travel and activities, and, on many itineraries, a host-family stay.
Most applicants must have completed grade 9, 10, 11, or 12 and not yet entered college. Admission considers motivation, maturity, ability to work in a diverse group, open-mindedness, and curiosity, and includes written responses and an interview. Credit-bearing options add GPA, transcript, and two-reference requirements.
