What Is Rotary Youth Exchange?
Rotary Youth Exchange is a network of locally administered international exchanges sponsored by Rotary clubs and districts in more than 100 countries. It serves students ages 15-19. Long-term exchange lasts a full academic year: the student attends a local school and lives with multiple host families. Short-term exchange lasts from several days to three months, usually outside the school term, and may be a camp, tour, or homestay.
There is no single worldwide application, $2,000 price, or October 19 deadline. Availability, destinations, sending and hosting districts, school terms, age cutoffs, language expectations, visas, application windows, interviews, training, fees, and placement rules vary locally. The correct first step is to contact a nearby Rotary club or district and ask which certified exchange options are accepting applicants for the intended year. A district's published deadline or price applies only to that district unless Rotary International says otherwise.
