# Girls Write Now Girls Write Now is a nationally award-winning nonprofit and multi-generational writing community that has mentored young writers - primarily those historically disempowered because of their gender or gender identity - since 1998. Once a New York City program, it now serves mentees virtually across more than 30 U.S. states, pairing each with an experienced writer or industry professional. ## What You'll Do - Get matched one-on-one with a mentor based on your location, needs, interests, and experience - Join focused three-month 'Journey' mentorship cycles - Fall 2026 Journeys run November through January - or deeper year-long programming - Take writing courses across genres and media, from poetry and fiction to digital media - Tap a pipeline of opportunities including publication in Girls Write Now anthologies, jobs, internships, scholarships, and writing contests ## Who Should Apply Young writers - typically ages 14-24, with a newer track for ages 10-13 - anywhere in the U.S. who want sustained mentorship rather than a one-off class. Applicants complete an application and an interview with staff before being matched; enrollment for the Fall 2026 Journeys closes August 31. ## Outcomes Mentees develop portfolios shaped by professional mentors, publication credits in the organization's anthologies and media channels, and a national peer community. Girls Write Now's alumni network and college and career programming extend the relationship well beyond a single season.
