What Is Summer Intensive Volunteer Program?
Lurie Children's offers a short learn-and-serve experience for high-school and early-college students who are new to its volunteer programme. It is not a full-summer clinical internship or a direct-patient-care placement.
The 2026 programme met in person on August 4 and 7 from 9:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Participants completed service projects benefiting hospital patients, joined interactive healthcare trainings, heard a career panel of hospital professionals and received a certificate of participation. Applicants had to be at least 16 by July 1, typically fell within ages 16-20, and had to attend both dates.
