# Junior Summer Math Camp - Residential (JSMCR) JSMCR is the middle-school counterpart to Texas State Mathworks' Honors Summer Math Camp: a two-week residential program on the San Marcos campus for students currently in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade. It uses the same discovery-based Mathworks curriculum that made the senior camp well known, scaled to middle schoolers who are ready for real mathematical reasoning rather than accelerated arithmetic. The 2026 session ran June 7 - June 19, 2026, cost $2,200, and was capped at 76 students. ## What You'll Do - Work through the Mathworks curriculum in small classes led by instructors and near-peer counselors - Tackle multi-day problems in number theory, counting, and geometry that require written explanation, not just answers - Live in campus housing for two weeks with structured evening and weekend activities - Present work to peers and practice explaining mathematical ideas aloud ## Who Should Apply Students who "currently be in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade" and want a serious mathematics experience before high school. Admission is rolling, enrollment is capped at 76, and Mathworks offers scholarships based on financial need through the same application. ## Outcomes JSMCR graduates arrive in high school already comfortable with proof-style reasoning and problem sets that take days rather than minutes.
