What Is MIT PRIMES Research Program?
MIT PRIMES is a free, yearlong research program for high-school sophomores and juniors. Students study advanced material and work on research problems with mentors. MIT assigns individual projects or groups of up to three students after considering interests, background and available mentors.
The Boston research route serves students within driving distance of Boston and uses in-person mentor meetings. PRIMES-USA is the separate nationwide route for students outside Greater Boston; both use the same application portal. PRIMES Circle is a different program and application. Students must reside in the United States, and the FAQ requires U.S. school attendance; international citizens attending an in-person U.S. school can be eligible. The application also includes homeschooled sophomores and juniors.
