# Medical Scholars Pipeline Program The Medical Scholars Pipeline Program (MSPP) at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell builds an educational pathway into the health professions for New York high school students. Launched in 2010 and now in its sixteenth year, the three-year program introduces high-achieving students to the breadth of careers across Northwell Health - New York's largest healthcare system - while sharpening the academic skills they need to get there. ## What You'll Do - Explore healthcare career paths across Northwell Health and its medical school - Work with mentors among Northwell health professionals and medical school faculty - Build skills through college preparation workshops, leadership activities, and public speaking sessions - Return across multiple summers as part of a three-year scholar cohort ## Who Should Apply Rising juniors, rising seniors, and rising college freshmen from the five boroughs of New York City and Nassau County. The program recruits high-achieving students - particularly those from communities underrepresented in medicine - who are serious about healthcare careers. Application details are posted through the Zucker School of Medicine's pipeline office. ## Outcomes Since inception, 288 students have enrolled and 139 have completed the full three-year program; eighteen alumni have gone on to medical school, including five at the Zucker School of Medicine itself. Scholars graduate with a sustained medical school affiliation, professional mentors, and a tested college-prep foundation.
