What Is Rutgers Pre-Law and Mock Trial Summer Academy?
Rutgers' Pre-Law and Mock Trial Summer Academy is a one-week residential, non-credit program at Rutgers-New Brunswick. In 2026, Week I used a civil case and Week II a criminal case; students could take either or both as separate enrollments. Through interactive legal lessons, courtroom visits, practitioner/law-school speakers, team practice and culminating mock trials, students learned sources of law, courtroom roles, openings and closings, witness examination, evidence and objections. Completers earned a Rutgers Pre-College Digital Badge.
Applicants had to be completing grade 10 or 11, be age 16-18 before summer, hold at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and show English proficiency. The application required a transcript, short personal essay and one independently submitted recommendation. International students had additional visa, funding, insurance and English documentation.
