What Is SAE AutoDrive Challenge II?
SAE AutoDrive Challenge II is a Collegiate Design Series program run by SAE International and General Motors. University teams of undergraduate and graduate students develop and validate full-scale autonomous-vehicle systems through a multi-year, project-based engineering competition involving software, sensing, systems safety, vehicle integration, simulation, technical reports, workshops, and onsite dynamic challenges. Year 5 operated during the 2025–26 academic year: rules were released in August 2025, teams attended fall and winter activities, and the final onsite competition occurred in late May and early June 2026 before final scores were posted June 16. Participation was through established university teams, with active SAE student membership and roster affiliation required. The official feed has not announced a Year 6 or new-team selection cycle.
