What Is Saturday Academy ASE Internships?
Apprenticeships in STEAM Exploration matches rising high-school sophomores, juniors and seniors with mentor-designed pre-professional internships at universities, hospitals, research institutions and companies. Interns contribute to real science, engineering, technology, arts or mathematics projects, maintain an activity log, attend orientation and career conferences, complete written deliverables and present their work at a symposium. Positions vary from part-time to full-time and from four to ten weeks; most are about eight full-time weeks or 320 hours.
Applicants may select three positions and submit a general cover letter, two adult recommendations and a transcript. ASE screens for completeness, program eligibility and position prerequisites, then mentors rank or interview candidates before matching. More than 400 students apply for fewer than 100 positions, and the program typically offers about 75 internships. Learning stipends are $1,500, $1,000 or $500 depending on total hours, and high-school credit may be available.
