What Is Scholastic Kids Press?
Scholastic Kids Press selects student reporters to report news for kids, by kids. The official 2026–27 application required ages 10–14 at the start of the school year and grades 5–8. Applications had to be postmarked by May 15, 2026; late and digital submissions were excluded. This historical call does not announce the next application cycle.
The application required a typed 400-word news article with one to four quotations from at least two interviews, two story ideas, a personal essay of no more than 250 words, background forms, and signed student/guardian releases. Original non-AI work and rights assignment were explicit. Selected reporters were expected to produce at least four stories, with editor approval before interviews.
