# SMASH Residential SMASH Residential is a free, one-year, intensive STEM-focused program that empowers students of color and students from under-resourced communities to deepen their talents and pursue STEM careers. The centerpiece is a tuition-free residential summer on a partner university campus; in 2026, SMASH sites include UC Berkeley, Morehouse College, Northeastern University, and the University of Michigan, with the summer running July 11-31. ## What You'll Do - Live on campus for a free summer of residential programming at a partner university - Take rigorous STEM coursework — computer science, math, and design thinking — taught tuition-free - Build projects and pitch them, culminating in events like the SMASH National Pitch Competition (July 31, 2026) - Continue with year-round programming and a national alumni community after the summer ## Who Should Apply Students in 10th or 11th grade at the time of application with a 3.0+ GPA, strong math skills, attendance at a public or scholarship-based private high school, and demonstrated interest in computer science degrees or careers. Applications for each summer open in the fall. ## Outcomes SMASH scholars gain a full residential college experience at no cost, a portfolio of STEM projects and pitches, and entry into a national network of scholars and mentors that supports college applications and early tech careers.
