UCLA Olga Radko Endowed Math Circle (ORMC)

# UCLA Olga Radko Endowed Math Circle (ORMC) ORMC, formerly the Los Angeles Math Circle, is the UCLA Department of Mathematics' long-running weekend enrichment program for mathematically curious K-12 students across the greater Los Angeles area. Sessions meet on Sundays on the UCLA campus and are taught by UCLA faculty, graduate students, and experienced instructors. UCLA's K-12 outreach office lists the circle's tracks as "1st - 4th, 5th - 8th, 9th - 12th" and describes the program as free and open to students interested in mathematics. ## What You'll Do - Attend weekly Sunday meetings in a level-appropriate group (middle school and high school tracks run separately) - Work through problem sets and guided explorations in topics rarely covered in school - number theory, combinatorics, graph theory, geometry, and proof technique - Join optional training aimed at Math Kangaroo, the AMC series, and math olympiads - Learn alongside roughly 400 students supported by about 80 instructors - Continue year over year: students in good standing hold their spot for the next quarter ## Who Should Apply Greater-Los-Angeles students in grades 6-12 (the circle also serves younger grades) who want mathematics beyond the school curriculum and can commit to Sunday sessions. There is no tuition. New families register through the ORMC portal and are usually placed on a waitlist until a seat opens, so applying early in the quarter matters. ## Outcomes Participants build a proof-based problem-solving toolkit years ahead of a standard curriculum, gain a peer group of similarly motivated students, and get direct contact with UCLA mathematicians - useful preparation for competition math and for university-level study.
