What Is USA Bebras Computing Challenge?
USA Bebras is a free, online, school- or homeschool-coordinated computational-thinking challenge for students ages 6-18. The 2026 challenge runs November 9-20. A teacher registers as coordinator, waits for approval, creates student accounts, and supervises the 45-minute session at school. Students cannot self-register; coordinators may add students through the last competition day.
Six overlapping age groups provide age-appropriate tasks: Kits 6-8, Castors 8-10, Benjamins 10-12, Cadets 12-14, Juniors 14-16, and Seniors 16-18. Standard groups solve 15 multiple-choice problems spanning easy, medium, and hard levels. The tasks test logic, algorithms, decomposition, pattern recognition, data analysis, generalisation, and abstraction—not memorised programming syntax.
