# Harvest of Hope The Society of St. Andrew is a national food-rescue nonprofit that salvages surplus farm produce and moves it to people facing hunger. Harvest of Hope is its structured service-and-learning event for groups: a registered weekend in which participants glean fields by hand, deliver the food, and study why hunger persists in a country with a produce surplus. ## What You'll Do - Head into the fields each morning to glean and rescue produce that would otherwise be left behind - Load and deliver the freshly picked produce to local hunger relief groups, often meeting agency representatives at the handoff so you see where the food lands - Work through Society of St. Andrew's hunger education curriculum on the root causes of poverty and food insecurity, domestic and global - Take part in optional ecumenical Christian worship, which most participating faith-based groups request but which is not required ## Who Should Apply Youth groups and youth participants under 18 (registration distinguishes youth from adult participants), along with their leaders and chaperones. Sessions are scheduled well in advance and fill on a first-come basis - the 2026 overnight events are September 25-27 at Massanetta Springs Camp and Retreat Center, October 9-11 at Rockfish Camp and Retreat Center, and November 6-8 at Phoebe Needles Camp. ## Outcomes Participants leave with hands-on food-rescue experience, a concrete picture of how gleaned produce reaches hunger relief agencies, and a hunger-education framework the Society encourages groups to carry back into their own communities.
