# SWENext SWENext is the Society of Women Engineers' program for students 18 and under - the professional society's on-ramp for the next generation of engineers. Membership is free and open to students of all genders ages 5 through 18, and it plugs young people directly into SWE's national network of practicing women engineers, collegiate sections, and local professional sections. ## What You'll Do - Join free and receive SWENext newsletters with engineering activities, competition announcements, and scholarship listings - Attend SWENext DesignLab, an engineering engagement program for middle and high schoolers held at SWE's WE Local conferences - Compete for SWENext recognitions such as the STEM in Action Award for girls in grades 6-12 who are active in their local STEM community - Start or join a SWENext Club at your school to run hands-on engineering challenges with SWE mentors - Connect with women-engineer role models from industry and university SWE sections ## Who Should Apply Any US student 18 or under who is curious about engineering or technology. Students 13-18 can sign up on their own; younger students join with a parent as the primary contact. There is no application or deadline - registration is open year-round on SWE's website. ## Outcomes SWENexters get an early professional-society affiliation they can keep through college, a pipeline of engineering events and award opportunities, and sustained exposure to women engineers - useful groundwork for future SWE collegiate membership and engineering scholarship applications.
