What Is UT Dallas CS High School Summer Research?
UT Dallas CS K-12 Outreach runs an umbrella summer programme for advanced, self-directed high-school students; it is not one uniform internship. The documented 2026 programme offered three paths: highly selective in-person faculty-lab placements requiring 20-40 hours per week, informal research workshops meeting at least twice weekly in person or online, and a full-day eight-week Deep-dive AI Workshop.
The 2026 programme ran June 8-July 31. Lab participation cost $1,500; standard workshops cost $1,000 in person or $900 virtual; and Deep-dive AI cost $2,000. Eligible low-income families could receive discounts, including a stated 50% discount for the AI track. In-person participants had to be at least 15 by the start date; younger high-school students were limited to virtual workshops. UT Dallas does not house minors, so in-person families arrange lodging and travel.
