What Is MITES Summer?
MITES Summer is a free six-week residential programme at MIT for students applying during 11th grade who will enter senior year afterward. Participants take five intensive courses—math, life science, physics, humanities and a project-based elective—along with recitations, workshops, lab/company tours, college-admissions and financial-aid guidance, and social activities. They live on campus and complete substantial evening/weekend homework.
All programme-related instruction, food and housing are covered; students are responsible for transportation to and from MIT. MITES does not award formal grades or high-school/college credit. Students instead receive qualitative instructor evaluations that describe strengths, growth and class contributions.
