# UT Computer Science Summer Academies The University of Texas at Austin's Department of Computer Science runs one-week residential Summer Academies each summer for high school students entering grades 10-12. Students live on campus in Austin and spend the week coding inside one of the nation's top-ten CS departments, choosing a specialized track taught by UTCS staff and students. ## What You'll Do - Pick a track: Academy for Game Development, iOS App Development, Machine Learning, Robotics, or Data Science Research - Spend a residential week on the UT Austin campus building projects in your track - Learn from UTCS instructors and mentors while experiencing college life - Eligible students can instead apply to the free, application-based Scholars Academies: Academy for All and Academy for Women ## Who Should Apply High school students entering grades 10-12 anywhere in the US. Open-enrollment academies accept registrations starting February 1 until each academy fills. The two Scholars Academies are free residential programs with a competitive application: applications open November 7, close December 22, and admission decisions arrive by January 31. The department's earlier First Bytes camp for young women lives on in the Academy for Women scholars track. ## Outcomes Students leave with a completed project in a specialized area of computing, a week of authentic residential college experience at UT Austin, and connections to UTCS faculty, students, and fellow campers - or, through the Scholars Academies, all of the above at no cost.
